Efficiency for Access

🗂️ Project Description

Renewable energy adoption in Kenya is often hindered by inefficient appliances, lack of standardization, and poor market regulation. Many businesses and households struggle with appliances that consume excessive energy, reducing the benefits of solar and other renewable power solutions. To address these challenges, KEREA is working with CLASP to enhance efficiency standards and promote high-quality, energy-efficient appliances.

This initiative focuses on:

  • Identifying and analyzing gaps in renewable energy appliance standards that affect efficiency and affordability.
  • Collaborating with industry stakeholders, policymakers, and manufacturers to establish better product benchmarks.
  • Developing policy recommendations to ensure higher efficiency standards for solar-powered and energy-saving appliances.
  • Creating awareness and promotional strategies to increase the adoption of energy-efficient appliances in the Kenyan market.
  • Publishing research on barriers to adoption, helping inform future policies and market interventions.
